Rest....

This is my rest week.  I really hope that by the end of this week I will be able to get back to exercising.   The guys just left to the gym and I almost went.  But I reminded myself that this is for the best.  Maybe by this weekend....

I was pretty excited this morning!  I stepped on the scale.....I stepped on it again....for the third time I stepped on it.  I couldn't believe my eyes! I have finally lost 15 lbs.! (Since March 1st) For a total of 23 lbs.  {happy dance}

Fitbit Update:

Steps were down this week and I expect them to be down next week also.

I hope everyone is having a great week!! Keep up the hard work!

Sometimes a Break is What you Need!

What a week!! I had really hoped to end this week on my way to recovery, but that is not the case. Because I didn't want to lose momentum, I pushed myself to exercise my normal routine.  I think because I rested my leg over the weekend, I completed Monday okay.  By Tuesday, I was hobbling and I couldn't hardly complete a mile.  Wednesday I decided to walk, but without incline.  That really helped, except by Thursday I was struggling again.    Now it is Friday and not only is my leg not getting better, the bruising is just beautiful on my leg.  I do not want to have another week like this week, so I decided that next week I am going to stop my routine and just rest and ice my leg.  I'd rather do this then keep struggling the next few weeks because I am making the injury worse.   That is the plan, and I hope I can stick with it!

I didn't weigh today because the Dietbet that I am doing started yesterday.  I will weigh again next week.  Not being able to exercise is going to make for a rough calorie week.  You definitely can't eat as much when you not exercising.  So I am going to.....

Hope you all have wonderful weekend!!

A Slight Setback

I guess with age comes the injuries.  Friday night was very disappointing for me.  I was playing volleyball with the church ladies and lunged to get a ball.....that's all it took to put me out of commission for the rest of the night. I knew exactly what I had done, because it happened a few years ago, and I remembered the pain.  It wasn't  as bad as the time before, that is why I used caution and stopped while I was ahead.   It is a hamstring tear, otherwise known as "tennis leg".  The main reason this happens is not stretching properly.  The first time this happened I was off my leg for weeks.  Thankfully it wasn't as bad this time.  I can kick myself for not stretching better.  I don't want to be sidelined while I have momentum going.

I iced my leg over the weekend and I could feel it getting better.  It was sore, but I could walk on it and stretch it some.  Thankfully tonight I was able to walk on the treadmill without too much pain.  But because I was compensating for my calf, my knee hurt after walking.  Slow and steady....I will have to take it easy the rest of the week.

My Fitbit totals were great this week! I actually had more steps this week than last week!

My goal this week is to still go to the gym five times this week and at least 12,000 steps a day.  Hopefully my leg will be back to normal by next week.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

No Excuses!

While working on my healthier lifestyle, I am trying my hardest not to make excuses.  If When I succeed and reach my goal, it will because I pushed myself when I couldn't go anymore.  It will because I pushed away from the table when I really wanted a few more bites.  It will be because I stopped making excuses for why I don't feel like exercising.  Just one hour a day.....squeeze it in and you will make your goal faster, but more importantly you will feel much better!

I have been reaching all of my exercise goals.   I was excited to see my Fitbit totals for this week.  It was one of my best "step" weeks.

36 miles of steps in one week! As you can see, Julie beat me once again! Way to go Julie!

I have been really pushing myself with increasing my incline on my treadmill workouts.  This week I am doing random incline (6.3-12)  I hope it takes another pound or two off.

I was thinking today what would my NSV's for this week be?   I am on my 11th week of consistent exercise.  I have exercised no less than 5 days a week.  It is very exciting to think that I may be on my way to a huge change......A healthier change!  I have also logged in for 475 consecutive days on My Fitness Pal.  This has been a key to my success.  I have to be accountable for everything I put in my mouth.  Not logging got me in this predicament!

Thank you for checking in! I hope you all have a healthy week!

Not This Time....

When I saw the above quote I thought, that was me for so many years.  I don't know how many New Year's Resolution I had weight loss  as my number one pick.  I couldn't tell you how many diets I have tried, or weight loss pills.  I have been the typical yo-yo dieter.  But not this time....

What a busy week I had!  With the changes I have made the last few months, I was able to put my work outs as top priority.  There was a time that work outs were IF I had time.  But with my new lifestyle, work outs are a must.  I have learned that exercise is important to meeting my weight loss goals.  I don't do as well on the scale that week if I do not exercise.  For me, this is a big NSV!  (non scale victory) I feel myself mentally changing towards a healthier lifestyle.

Weighing In..... This week I am down 0.8 lbs for a total of 12.4 lbs lost since March 1st.
Grand total of 20.4 lbs.

Exercise Update..... I started doing incline on the treadmill a few weeks ago.  After reading an article from Jillian Michaels how the higher the incline, the more calories you burn, I was willing to try it.  I have increased my incline this week and it really has made a difference in my weight loss.  Two weeks in a row I have consistently loss.  I have to admit, the scale moving is a great motivation for me.  Next week I will increase my level one more time.  Right now my work out is random incline 5.5-11.3.  I had to start taking a towel because you really sweat! lol
I have logged in 15 miles this week on the treadmill and elliptical with a grand total of 205 miles for the year.  I hope to log 1000 miles at the gym this year.  I better pick up the pace!

Robert Collier once said, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."  Remember every change you make is getting you closer to a healthier lifestyle!  We can do this!

Yes, I really did!

I couldn't help myself and stepped on the scale today.  But I am glad I did!! I was down 1 lb!!  That is a total of 11.6 lbs since March 1st and 20 lbs all together!  I am going to try not to weigh again until the middle of the month.  I really don't know why it is  coming off so slow, but I will take it!!  Patience...it is not my virtue, lol. :D

Weight Loss is like Driving....

Two Months have come and gone.  I am very excited about all of the changes that I have made.  Have they been easy, no.  But I didn't give up! I just kept on trucking!
I have lost 11 lbs since March 1st with a total of 19 lbs all together!

I have many NSV's I have reported like......Two months ago I couldn't hardly walk extended amount of time on the treadmill, much less any incline.  Even the elliptical was extremely hard!  Now I can walk 60 minutes on the treadmill with random incline up to 10.6 and do two miles on the elliptical in 25 minutes.  I also went on a cruise and was only up a half a pound, that was off by the next day. (You can see that post here.)  No, the weight isn't falling off, but I have achieved goals towards a healthier me!  I feel better.....and I also feel better about myself.

My Fitbit totals are looking good....

I am also doing a few things to stay motivated like:
